The Operating System

How we work with a practice owner.

Six stages in one continuous loop. It begins with seeing clearly, it turns into decisions, and then it starts again — because a practice that keeps moving keeps needing both.

Why it loops

A list has an end. A dental practice doesn’t.

Most accountants describe their work as a set of services, or a programme you graduate from. That isn’t how a practice actually runs. Our six stages are one loop with two halves — and the point where they meet is the point of the whole thing.

1

The left half makes your numbers true

Clarity on what matters, a foundation that works, and tax considered before it happens. Nothing here is impressive on its own — it’s the part that makes everything after it possible.

2

The right half makes them useful

Dashboards, quarterly reviews and an annual look at the direction ahead. Accurate numbers nobody acts on are just tidy history.

3

The crossing is where the value is

Numbers you can trust become decisions you can make. That handover happens continuously, not once a year when the accounts are filed.

A note on the shape

We didn’t invent a loop to illustrate this. Our mark already is one. The diagram uses the same two circles and the same crossing, drawn as a fine line instead of a solid form — so the explanation is unmistakably ours, without ever competing with the logo it came from.

The rhythm

Three tempos, running at the same time.

The six stages describe what happens. The rhythm describes how often. One year of the Operating System looks like this.

Monthly

Keep the numbers right

Bookkeeping, payroll, VAT and management information stay current, so the picture is never more than a few weeks old.

Quarterly

Make better decisions

Four times a year you step back with us: what changed, how the practice performed, and what the next quarter needs to look like.

Stage 05

Yearly

Review, refine and plan ahead

Once a year we look beyond the accounts, set the direction ahead, and that direction becomes the next Practice Clarity Session.

What changes

Six stages. Six things that are different.
